SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING NOTICE
A special meeting of the membership of VVA Chapter 96 will be held at the Hootch at 7:30 p.m. on March 20, 2008. The purpose of this meeting to to consider proposed amendments of both the articles of incorporation and the bylaws of the chapter. The bylaws and articles of incorporation have not been amended since 1989 and 1990 respectively, and need to be updated. The main purpose of the proposed amendments is to make these key documents of the chapter consistent with VVA National Constitution amendments since 1989 and with the current operating procedures of VVA National. In addition several proposed amendments relate to specific provisions in Florida incorporation statutes. One specific proposed amendment will reduce the annual meeting quorum requirement from 25% to 15% of the membership. It will be necessary to have a 25% quorum present to make that particular change. If regular quorum (10%), but not a 25% quorum, is present on March 20th, the membership may approve all other amendments and the quorum amendment can be tabled to the annual meeting where the 25% quorum will still be required. NOTICE OF UPCOMING CHAPTER 96 ELECTIONS
The Annual Meeting and Elections of VVA Chapter 96 will be held at 1:00 p.m. on SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 2008. The nominating committee will give its official report at the March 20th membership meeting; however, nominations will continue to be open up to, and from the floor at, the annual meeting. All candidates for any office must have their DD214 or other documentation of eligibility on file, or submit it upon nomination. Any member wishing to be nominated for elective office in Chapter 96 should contact Nominations Committee Chair Allen Beal. March is upon us... 2008 moves on... time flies when you're having fun. Our
member social on the 21st of February was great, thanks to Bob Flanagan
for setting this up and special thanks to Peoples Community Bank for
doing this. We had a great time!
March the 29th is Springtime Tallahassee Festival, one of our major
fund raisers for the chapter. Its a big effort, but worth the
reward. We will start preparing for it the night of our meeting on the
20th. If you can help, please get your name on the sign-up sheet
then. Our elections are in April. if you have any desire to serve
in any capacity contact Alan Beal and let your wishes be
known. Our first board of directors meeting for the month is on
Monday, March 3rd. I hope to see you there.
I would ask each one of you to express thanks to the soldiers
that you may come in contact with for their continuing efforts to
preserve our freedoms that we all too easily take for granted. You may
not agree with the ongoing wars, but the soldiers still fight and die
to protect our basic rights as Americans. Thank them!
